What’s the schedule?

The Civo Navigate schedule includes 50 talks over the course of two days, featuring some of the leading experts in cloud native technology. The event will feature talks from Cheryl Hung, Bret Fisher, and Ayse Kaya, alongside an opening keynote talk by tech innovator and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Main stage: For two days, you can visit the Main Stage to listen to speakers such as Dinesh Majrekar, Matt Dupree, and Matt Williams. Many topics will also be covered on the Main Stage, including product launches, machine learning, hacking, and container security.

  • Theatre: With talks on WASM and DevOps, this only scratches the surface of what you can expect from our Theatre schedule. Look out for talks from Rotem Refael, David Flanagan, and more!

  • Rooftop: Take to the Rooftop to get a better understanding of some of the trending topics in the cloud native space, such as k3s, observability, cert-manager, and Kubernetes at the Edge.

  • Show + Tell: Participants will be able to take part in hands-on workshops surrounding topics such as building a production-ready Kubernetes, learning to hack, and managing workloads at Edge locations.

Meet the speakers

Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder

Steve Wozniak (commonly referred to as Woz) will join us at Civo Navigate as the keynote speaker to share stories from his time at Apple and other endeavors since leaving the company. In addition, as one of the pioneers of the personal computer revolution and modern-day tech industry, he will be giving an insight into his thoughts on the future of technology and what you should look out for!

Cheryl Hung, Senior Director of Ecosystem, Arm

In this keynote talk, Cheryl Hung shares lessons from her three-year tenure at the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). During her time there, she grew the CNCF's End User Community to over 150 members, including companies such as Apple, Intuit, and Spotify. So get ready to take note as she discusses her experiences working within one of the fastest-growing open source foundations and provides insights on the future of cloud native technology.

Bret Fisher, Creator of Docker & Kubernetes Mastery

With over 20 years of experience in the tech industry, Bret Fisher will be joining us at Civo Navigate to do two sessions on the Main Stage:

  • Real-world container & image security: Present and future
  • Docker 101 in 2023

Having helped thousands of students master containerization and orchestration through his online course "Docker & Kubernetes Mastery,” Bret will bring knowledge from his frequent contributions to open source projects and dedication to helping others learn and succeed in this rapidly-evolving field.

Catherine Paganini, Head of Marketing & Community, Buoyant

If you have ever come across the CNCF Cloud Native Glossary, you will already be familiar with Catherine Paganini, Head of Marketing & Community at Buoyant! With further experience as the co-chair of the TAG Contributor Strategy, Catherine will be joining us at Civo Navigate to delve into the significance of simplicity in the cloud native ecosystem as a whole. She will cover various aspects, including patterns, technology options that promote it, and the creation of understandable educational resources for engineers and business leaders.

David Flanagan, Founder, Rawkode Academy

With a passion for sharing his knowledge, David Flanagan founded Rawkode Academy, a live stream for learning the technologies across the cloud native landscape. Speaking in the Theater at Civo Navigate, David will explore what he learned fixing 50+ broken Kubernetes clusters. Through this session, attendees can expect to dive deep into Linux, eBPF, and just how cruel people can be when they break a cluster.
