TechRadar recently covered "The Kubernetes State of Play 2022" (gated) white paper on their site with the aim of providing IT insights and guidance for small-businesses. This piece covers the increasing popularity of Kubernetes, with insights on how those not using it are potentially missing out on tech they can take advantage of. They refer to the white paper by stating, 'scalability is apparently a key driver of adoption', which is a message Civo strongly believes in.

The two most common benefits cited by Civo’s respondents were easy scaling of work, which 36% of respondents opted for, and easy management of containers, which 35% opted for.

Even though developers proclaim the easy scaling of work and management of containers, some issues discovered by the white paper may be preventing further adoption, such as the complexity surrounding their usage.

In addition, security may also be a factor holding adoption back, according to Civo 66% of developers are worried about the security consequences created by Kubernetes vulnerabilities, and just over 50% of developers said misconfigurations or exposures were driving their concerns around Kubernetes security.

57% of the 1,000 cloud developers surveyed said they had seen an increase in the amount of Kubernetes clusters running within their organization over the last 12 months. This could be seen as a sign of the times as confidence in Kubernetes and the capabilities increases, showing that container-based environments are not only here to stay but also here to grow.
