The third Civo Navigate London event has come to an end - and as you might be able to tell, this was an extra special one with some big changes for Civo 💚

First, a huge thank‑you to our amazing sponsors, attendees, speakers for making this event possible.

Civo Team at Civo Navigate

The BIG Civo rebrand 💚

If you’ve visited the Civo website recently, you’ll see a fresh look! When Civo first launched, our mission was simple: give developers a Kubernetes-first cloud that speeds development, boosts productivity, and cuts costs.

As the cloud industry has grown, it has drifted from its founding ideals of openness, interoperability, and freedom of choice, giving way to complexity and vendor lock-in. From the beginning, Civo was built on these principles, and our new brand strengthens that commitment, putting control firmly back in the hands of users and shaping a sovereign, AI-driven future defined by transparency, flexibility, and trust.

“For the next stage of our journey, we’re setting our sights on new markets and future opportunities to deliver more performance, more security, and more possibilities for customers around the world" - Mark Boost, CEO at Civo

Check out the official press release for a deeper dive into our rebrand and what it means for Civo's future.

Unlocking a sovereign and AI-driven future

We kicked off Civo Navigate with a powerful keynote from Mark Boost (CEO at Civo), who was joined on stage by Dinesh Majrekar (CTO at Civo), Josh Mesout (Chief Innovation Officer at Civo), and the newest member of the Civo board, Kelsey Hightower. The discussion focused on how Civo is redefining the cloud landscape for an AI-driven, sovereign future. The team unveiled the company’s latest innovations, with a strong emphasis on removing the blurred lines between public and private cloud to give businesses more control and flexibility.

Building smarter with AI

On the mainstage, Josh Mesout discussed how businesses and enterprises can scale faster with the use of AI. The session dug into how AI is driving innovation across cloud infrastructure and software development, and he shared key trends shaping the next wave of AI-first products, offering insights on how builders can stay ahead in this new era.

Josh Mesout, James Faure (Founder & CEO, Clairo AI), Abdul Hummaida (Co-Founder, CTO of Covecta), Jonas Vermeulen (Co-Founder, CTO of Covecta), and Daniel Miodovnik (COO, Orbital Materials) at Civo Navigate London 2025

Also on the mainstage, a dedicated AI panel explored real-world examples of how AI is being used, where it’s heading, and what we need to think about when it comes to security, privacy, and responsible AI in the cloud. The panel featured Josh Mesout, James Faure (Founder & CEO, Clairo AI), Abdul Hummaida (Co-Founder, CTO of Covecta), Jonas Vermeulen (Co-Founder, CTO of Covecta), and Daniel Miodovnik (COO, Orbital Materials).

The topic of AI spread across the whole day with a variety of talks that went beyond just the technical aspects. The "Powering AI" session explored the crucial link between AI and sustainability, with Olivia Carpenter-Lomax (Associate Director and Head of Sustainable Energy Systems, Ricardo) discussing the complex energy decisions required for data centers. Other sessions delved into the transformative world of Agentic AI, with one talk exploring how these autonomous systems are reshaping decision-making and the critical need for a focus on ethics, governance, and human-AI synergy.

Another session, “How to get agentic AI to build correct software,” showed how multi-layer feedback and specific technical tools like the Rust compiler can be used to build robust applications with incredible efficiency. For those looking to get hands-on, the “Building Your First AI Agent with n8n (relax.ai)” session provided a practical guide to creating powerful AI agents using a visual, no-code platform, powered by UK sovereign infrastructure.

Shaping a decentralized digital world

In a candid fireside chat, Mark Boost and Kelsey Hightower explored the pressing issue of data sovereignty in a cloud-first world. They discussed how evolving legislation like GDPR and the CLOUD Act is forcing businesses to navigate a complex landscape to ensure compliance and customer trust. The conversation unpacked current trends and debated the role of public, private, and sovereign clouds in the future of data management.

This session perfectly set the stage for the Digital Sovereignty Panel, which dove deeper into how this trend is reshaping the global technology landscape. The panel, moderated by Simon Hansford (Chief Commercial Officer, Civo), featured a distinguished group of policymakers and industry leaders, including Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, Dr. Ben Spencer MP (Shadow Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology & MP for Runnymede & Weybridge), Johan David Michels (Researcher, Cloud Legal Project at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London), and Greg Noone (Editor, Tech Monitor). They provided practical insights on aligning technology with national regulations and operational priorities, and explored the implications of digital sovereignty on cloud strategies and AI governance in an era of eroding trust and rising geopolitical tensions.
