As our team returns from a week in Detroit, Michigan, KubeCon + CNC NA 2022 comes to an end. Having attended as a sponsor, our team was able to take part in an array of talks, workshops, and events. Throughout this blog, we will cover more about our experience at the event, talks by the team, and the latest Civo TV interviews.

In-person talks

During the week, our in-person team consisted of David Fogle, Dinesh Majrekar, Tyler Mckee, Kai Hoffman, Kunal Kushwaha, Ricky Law, Mark Boost, and Sophia Ramsel. As well as providing live demos at our booth, we also had two talks covering “Kubernetes Storage Drivers” and the “Mentor-Mentee Framework”.

Check out the below video to see how our team reflected on their time at KubeCon + CNC NA 2022.

Running Kubernetes Storage Drivers on Hyper-Converged hardware

David Fogle, Dinesh Majrekar, and Kunal Kushwaha spoke about their views on how hyperconverged infrastructure on k8s is the way forward. They went into topics ranging from how HCI compares to network-based storage systems, how NVMEoF can allow hyper-fast replication of storage volumes, and how the systems behave at-scale. This talk was rounded off by speaking about the topic of blast-zone construction to keep storage issues isolated to as small an area as possible.

Mentor-Mentee Framework To Build the Next Generation Of Cloud Native

In this talk, Mark Boost, CEO at Civo, and Kunal Kushwaha, Dev Rel Manager at Civo, detailed a framework that can help mentor-mentee interactions to be productive in the long run. This covered the learnings which led Kunal to start the CNCF Students community and scale it to thousands. Mark then shared his experience and insights regarding being a mentor to help upskill the next generation.

Civo Virtual Booth

Kubernetes speedrun

Saiyam Pathak started the week with a Kubernetes speedrun session that showcased a quick overview of Kubernetes using Civo Kubernetes. He went on to show how you can deploy workloads on Civo Kubernetes with the K8s architecture, pods, PV/PVC and ingress.

GitOps on Civo Kubernetes

In this talk, Saiyam discussed GitOps on Civo Kubernetes and provides you with the tools to learn about GitOps principles and ArgoCD tools on Civo Kubernetes.

Easy Kubernetes deployment to Civo using Acorn

In Saiyam’s final virtual session, he looked at the challenges developers face during deployment and how tools such as Acorn can make your life even easier when using Civo Kubernetes.

Civo TV

Civo TV was introduced for the first time at KubeCon + CNC NA 2022 allowing our team to speak to over 100 people from the cloud-native community. With videos on the hot topics, our team’s thoughts on the event, and some of the best cloud native jokes, you can catch up on the latest releases through our Civo TV playlist here.

Until next time!

If you’re still looking for more ways to learn about the cloud native landscape, in 2023 Civo Navigate will be coming to Tampa, Florida. Civo Navigate is an in-person tech event that puts education at the forefront of all talks and workshops with some of the brightest minds in cloud native joining us. Find out more here.
