w/ Saiyam Pathak & Kai Hoffman & Jason Morgan

In this community meetup, we explored Kubernetes service meshes and the important role they play in enabling visibility, observability, and secure communication between services running inside your cluster.
Service meshes help manage service-to-service networking, making it easier to monitor traffic, enforce policies, and improve reliability without modifying application code. During the session, we discussed the core concepts behind service meshes, how they fit into modern Kubernetes architectures, and best practices for implementing them effectively.
Saiyam Pathak introduced the fundamentals of service meshes and explained why they are becoming a key component of cloud-native infrastructure. Kai Hoffman, Developer Advocate at Civo, then discussed the Service Mesh Interface (SMI), an open project designed to standardise service mesh specifications across Kubernetes platforms.
We were also joined by Jason Morgan, Technical Evangelist at Buoyant, who demonstrated how to work with Linkerd and walked through the process of adding ingress into a service mesh.
