UK-hosted, US-controlled? Why your business needs a sovereign cloud strategy

Many UK businesses think their data is safe because it's stored in the UK. But where your data sits and who controls it are not the same thing. If your cloud provider is a US company, your data can still fall under US law, including the CLOUD Act and FISA Section 702, wherever it's hosted. Only 35% of UK organisations have full clarity on where their data is located and governed.

In this webinar, we'll explain the difference between data residency, data sovereignty and digital sovereignty in plain English. We'll share findings from our Digital Sovereignty Revolution research, including why 66% of UK IT leaders would consider switching cloud providers to regain control, yet only 15% have moved to a domestic alternative.

We'll also look at AI. 58% of leaders are concerned about the legal jurisdiction of their AI provider. Where does your inference run? Are your prompts and data leaving the UK? And what does sovereign AI mean for your business?

You'll leave with practical steps to build your own strategy:

  • Decide which workloads need the most protection.
  • Spread your workloads across providers so you're not locked into one.
  • Know when private cloud or on-prem is the right choice.
  • Decide how much control you need.
